Let the BBQ Season Start

April 14th, 2010

It’s time to tidy up your grills, put on your cut-off’s and sandels and revel in the day out barbequing and toking countless Cigars. Along with my favorite stogies, I love to sip on a glass of scotch and just relax. After such a long winter, which appeared to be longer than years past, last weekend was perfect BBQ weather. I was able to finally open all of my windows and air out the house. I don’t smoke inside, it needed airing out anyway. I tuned up my lawn mower because yes, unfortunately it is that time of the year also. The snow is gone and the grass is growing. I don’t mind cutting my grass and keeping the lawn up. There’s basically a great satisfaction to a nice looking lawn and worth all of the effort. This past weekend, I smoked my favourite cigar and BBQ’d up some ribs and pork steaks. I love to think of myself as the master chef, king of the griddle. There is nothing like lighting those coals and going to the town on bountiful meats and vegetables. Of course I think of myself as a charcoal man, I adore the flavour of the grill. If you use gas, it does not get the smokey flavour that I love and is way overrated. I invited all of my pals and naturally the other half and youngsters were there. It’s a bit to cold to swim yet, but once commemorative day comes around, I’m going to open the pool for the season. My kids love swimming and splashing around, I am also known to take a dip with cigar and scotch in hand. Summer is a great time to get together with family and friends and enjoying life they way you need to.

Purchasing Your Perfect Humidor

March 17th, 2010

There’s nothing better than lighting up a cigar when it is time to be relaxed, either after your job, on the golfing course and after we take care of something big, like a personal and a pro success.  And the more time we puff on cigars and become more acquainted with smokes – the more we find out about taking care of them.  And naturally when we begin to smoke better, dearer brands, we find out how significant it is to keep them at there perfect level of freshness.  You didn’t have to worry about buying a portable case for your Dutch Master Cigars that you used to smoke. So when it’s the time to travel with our smokes -or even if we only wish to have a better way to keep them while going to work or out on small business dinners -we definitely wish to have a better way to guard there flavor, as well as carry them correctly.  And choosing a Cigar Travel Humidor should be something that we take slightly seriously.  Honestly, when you concentrate on it, more folks will see our travel humidor than will see our home or primary humidor.  So selecting a good, quality travelling humidor must be handled with the same kind of thought and detail as when we selected our home humidor.  Here are some tips for selecting a travelling humidor : These are the fundamentals, but knowing them will prepare you for your search.  The Size- essentially, how many cigars will you travel with.  Don’t be scared to over do it a bit.  Clearly, it’s better to have extra space than not enough.  Lid and Seal – Depending on the type of humidor you would like – whether it’s a solid case / box -or a leather one – The lid should always close on a cushion of air.  We do not desire ANY air within our humidor.  Air is the enemy and without regard for size, we must buy a cigar travel humidor that follows the same guidelines as a regular humidor.  Inside and Lining – For traveling, our cigar humidor desires fingered casing so that our cigars stay nice and snug during our travels -especially for long distance trips.  And a good insulated material is always an extra.  Humidifier Device – I’ve seen some fellows that basically paid cash on a humidor with no humidifier device – and its a total let down.  The Humidifier is the backbone of a good, quality travel humidor.  That’s what controls the inside humidity levels within the stogie travel humidor.

Cropping Tobacco for Cigars

March 3rd, 2010

Tobacco leaves are harvested and aged using a process that mixes use of heat and shade to reduce sugar and water content without causing the large leaves to decay. This first part of the method, called curing, takes between twenty-five and 45 days and varies substantially based on climate conditions as well as the construction of sheds or barns used to store cropped tobacco. The curing process is manipulated based on the sort of tobacco, and the required color of the leaf, especially when making miami suites cigars.  The second part of the process, called fermentation, is carried out under conditions made to help the leaf die slowly. Temperature and humidity are controlled to make sure that the leaf continues to ferment, without rotting or disintegrating. This is where the flavor, burning, and scent characteristics are basically brought out in the leaf.

How to Produce Quality Cigars

February 10th, 2010

Just as the european wine industry experienced stress and growing pains as united states wine producers gained international accolades, the Cuban cigar industry must face market realities that they are now not the world leader in cigar production and cigar quality.  In fact, the lifting of the Embargo ( whatever that suggests ) won’t, can not return Cuba to its glory days.  The cigar industry has taken root and gained force in some of the countries mentioned above, and there is not any indication that they may go out of business if the embargo is lifted.  They are gaining notoriety and accolades for producing quality products that the US cigar aficionado has grown to accept and love.

Tobacco: Normal Decency

February 4th, 2010

Choosing Cigars: The size of the cigar will give you a common indication of how full the taste is. The larger the ring size, most likely means, the smoother, fuller, slower and cooler the smoke will be. Cutting a cigar: The head of a handmade cigar must be cut before lighting it. You can do this with punch cutters, cigar scissors, or guillotine cutters. The guillotine is recommended for the perfect cut. Make sure not to snip the entire cap off, because this could damage its wrapper. Handmade cigar aficianados are known for their declaration of food and wine. One of the greatest times to offer a cigar is after a meal. Other great times to appreciate your favorite stogie are: during or after business meetings, while walking the dog, while driving to and from work or practically just any time you’re looking to enjoy the fulfillment and relaxation you get by a hand rolled cigar. Smoking a Stogie: Cigars are meant to be appreciated and savored for the feel, taste and the aroma. Draw slowly. Don’t draw to hard. If your cigar extinguishes itself, it is proper to relight it within one to two hours. Any later than that, it will taste limp.
